Dr. AnnaLynn Imperial
Plano Dentist AnnaLynn ImperialWelcome to Imagecare Dental! Hello, my name is Dr. AnnaLynn Imperial. I was born in beautiful San Diego, California, where the sun is always shining and there’s always a gentle coastal breeze. I didn’t stay very long in California before my family moved to Katy, TX (about 25 miles west of Houston), where I was raised with 2 sisters and 1 brother. I led a very active childhood, participating in track, tennis, and both outdoor and indoor soccer. I can remember traveling to a different city every weekend for a soccer tournament. Although I really enjoyed sports, I found a love in music. I started my musical journey with piano lessons at the age of 5. By learning the fundamentals of music at a very early age, I was able to excel at playing the clarinet in the band and the symphony orchestra throughout my high school and college years. After high school, I moved to Austin, TX to attend The University of Texas as a Biology major. In college, I was a member of the Longhorn Band, which served as my ticket to attend every home football game. In addition to being a full-time student, I was a teaching assistant for an undergraduate laboratory course in the School of Biological Sciences, and I also worked in one of the biology labs on campus. By the end of my first semester at UT, I knew I wanted to become a dentist. I spent some time shadowing my own dentist in my hometown whenever I would return home for holidays, and I also participated in a mentorship program at UT, through which I found myself volunteering at a private practice in Austin quite frequently. I found the science behind dentistry very intriguing. I was also amazed at the amount of detail that goes into creating beautiful smiles. By my senior year of college, my musical focus shifted from the clarinet to singing. Singing was always just a hobby of mine until I landed a position as a vocalist at a local club. It was a fun way to help finance my way through college.

After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in Biology, I moved to Dallas to attend Baylor College of Dentistry. I met my husband, who is digital artist for a video game company, shortly after I moved to Dallas, but we did not get married until a few years later. Aside from my regular schooling, I taught a Biology course to prepare undergraduate college students for the Dental Admissions Test, which is a pre-requisite for applying for dental school. While in dental school, I could see that the manual dexterity and coordination that I learned playing the piano and clarinet really translated well into the fine movements used in dentistry. Just as I sang my way through college, I also sang my way through dental school, performing at many weddings and some small clubs as a vocalist for The Heat, a Dallas-based cover band. As I became more involved in the dental community after earning my D.D.S., I eventually took a performing hiatus in order to focus solely on dentistry. I have since been an active member in organizations such as the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Dallas County Dental Society. I enjoy attending various dental conventions and continuing education courses that allow me to stay on the forefront of the ever-changing dental technology. I believe that patient education plays an extremely important factor in preventing dental disease. I will take time to explain your current oral condition in a way that you will understand so that together we can plan the best possible treatment. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I look forward to making you smile!
