Chips, cracks, small gaps, or discoloration can affect the overall look of your smile and make you feel self-conscious in your professional or social life.
Porcelain veneers are custom-made shells that cover the front surface of your teeth, concealing cosmetic imperfections and achieving completely natural-looking results.
Why do so many patients at Imagecare Dental choose porcelain veneers?

Many of Us Dream About A More Attractive Smile
But Aren't Other Procedures Less Expensive than Veneers?
Although dental bonding is a popular, cost-effective option, it does not offer the same lifelike qualities as porcelain veneers since it is completed using composite resin.
Composite resin is also not as strong or durable as porcelain, so you might have to touch-up your treatment much more frequently than you would with veneers.
Will People Notice That I Have Veneers?
There was a time when veneers appeared unnatural. They were either too perfect or bulky. Thankfully, modern dentistry utilizes state-of-the-art materials that are virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.
Each patient will experience different results depending on their personal goals, but expect a brighter, more balanced, and a smile that looks years younger.
Your treatment is personalized from start to finish...
During your consultation, one of our doctors will perform a dental exam and make sure that your teeth have enough enamel to accommodate veneers. If you have preexisting oral health issues such as cavities or gum disease, these will need to be addressed.
One of our highly trained cosmetic dentists will discuss your concerns, goals, and budget with you. We will design porcelain veneers that complement your unique features and highlight your natural beauty.
If you decide that veneers are the right choice for you, we will remove a conservative amount of enamel from each treated tooth. We will then take impressions to send to our trusted dental lab and in most cases, provide you with temporary restorations.
FabricationOver the next two weeks or so, a skilled ceramist will carefully fabricate your veneers from high-quality dental porcelain. The restorations are precisely crafted to match the shade and translucency of your surrounding teeth.
When your veneers are ready, you will come back to our office so we can verify their appearance and ensure your bite is not affected. We will then carefully bond the restorations in place using a special type of dental cement.
You can start enjoying your new, enhanced smile immediately after treatment. Our team will discuss aftercare tips with you during this appointment, but veneers can generally be cared for just like your natural teeth.
The Step-by-Step Placement of Veneers
Protecting Your New Smile
Care for veneers just like you would your natural teeth. You do need to take extra care to avoid:
- Chewing on ice
- Biting your fingernails
- Opening packages with your teeth
- Chewing on pens, pencils, or other objects
If you are affected by bruxism or play contact sports, speak with your doctor about a customized mouthguard.
Life-Changing Results with Veneers
Porcelain work is an art. Whether you are receiving porcelain veneers or a porcelain crown, the training, esthetic eye and attention to detail are very important in mimicking nature. The quality, appearance and longevity is very dependent on the skill of the laboratory technician and the communication between the doctor and the lab.
Not all dentists and not all lab technicians have the same skill level to create a masterpiece.
Dr Thompson has also authored the book, “Smiling Success”, that goes into detail on the design of porcelain veneers and crowns. You can go to Amazon.com to get your copy.
Dr. Thompson used porcelain veneer to correct rotational and symmetry problems for this patient.
What type of veneers are right for me?
The answer is dependent on what you are wanting to accomplish, your bite and other factors. There are many materials that veneers can be made of such as IPS empress and Emax. Also the design and thickness of the veneer will vary from person to person. We are asked about Lumineers and Durathin veneers but they are still veneers just made to fit with minimal preparation of the tooth. These minimal prep veneers look and feel great for certain types of patients, although traditional veneers give us much more freedom to create the smile of your dreams.
Over twenty years of experience and advanced training allows Dr. Thompson to select the best material and methods to develop a natural smile that looks, feels and functions great!
What are the advantages of porcelain veneers?
- Nearly instant remodeling of your smile – usually 2 or 3 visits
- Create natural life like esthetics
- Can cover badly stained & dark teeth
- Gives you confidence to smile again
Imagecare also offers highly esthetic porcelain crowns which are like veneers but wrap around the entire tooth, not just the front of the tooth. Porcelain crowns are used to replace ugly crowns with metal and grey lines, teeth with lots of decay or old filling materials. In some cases it is necessary to use both veneers and crowns to help you achieve the smile you desire!
