Dental Implant FAQs
IS THE PROCEDURE PAINFUL?
Most of our patients are pleasantly surprised at having a much lower level of discomfort than expected. You will have some options for anesthesia that will keep you comfortable. We use many different types of anesthesia such as: IV sedation, Enteral Sedation, Nitrous Oxide and local anesthesia. At your consultation we can discuss what sedation method would work best for you.
MY TEETH ARE IN REALLY BAD SHAPE. AM I STILL A CANDIDATE FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS?
We have found that most people are a good candidates for dental implants, even those with bad teeth. Many people with bad teeth still have adequate bone for dental implants regardless of age. The best way to know for sure is to schedule a free implant consultation so we can evaluate your unique situation.
I DON’T WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW I HAVE IMPLANTS. WILL MY SMILE LOOK LIKE I HAVE REAL TEETH?
In most cases your smile will look very natural. After the implants are fully fused to the bone, we will work with our dental lab to create a smile that you will love.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE RECOVERY PERIOD?
Most patient are very surprised about how they feel during this period. Most patients do fine with over the counter pain medication, if needed at all. Of course, every situation is different but the initial recovery time is usually a few weeks of a soft diet then transitioning into a more normal diet as the implants begin to fuse to the bone.
IS THE PROCEDURE EXPENSIVE? DOES IMAGECARE OFFER FINANCING OPTIONS?
Through our process and modern technology we are able to keep costs manageable for our patients. We understand some patient will need financing options. We recommend you set up a implant consultation to best determine your cost and payment options.
CAN I BRING SOMEONE WITH ME FOR SUPPORT?
Yes, it’s recommended that you bring someone to your big day. It’s great to have words of encouragement and a safe ride home for those who are sedated.
HOW LONG DOES THE ACTUAL PROCEDURE TAKE? IS IT REALLY ALL DONE IN ONE DAY?
You can usually plan on being with us for half the day. We will sedate/anesthetize and perform the work. You’ll leave with temporary new teeth that you will wear while the implants are healing in place. That usually takes 4-6 months.
WILL MY DENTAL IMPLANTS FUNCTION JUST LIKE REAL TEETH?
Yes your temporary teeth and your new teeth will function very much like real teeth. You will regain the freedom to eat the foods you love.
