Types of Dentures
Immediate Dentures are used for those patients with teeth that will need to be removed. You will receive your immediate denture the same day as your teeth are removed so you never have to go without teeth. The immediate denture not only gives you teeth in a day but helps protect your gums during the healing process so you can still eat and chew. Immediate dentures will most often need to be replaced by a traditional denture once healing in the jaws is complete. This healing usually takes about 4-6 mths. Immediate dentures are also used if implants are added at the same time the teeth are removed.
We offer great fitting dentures that are designed to look as natural as possible. With modern denture techniques we can mimic nature while improving your ability to chew and eat.
Implant overdentures are definitely a step up over traditional dentures. With implant overdentures your denture snaps into a special attachment on the dental implant. This provides great stability and peace of mind knowing that your dentures are not going to fall out at an inopportune time. Implant overdentures work best with 4 implants but 2 can be used if finances or available bone limits the number of implants.
Partial dentures replace missing teeth and are anchored to surround teeth. Partial dentures are an economical way to replace missing teeth and can provide good short term or long term stability. So if bridgework and implants are not possible then a partial denture could be right for you.
Flexible Base Partial Dentures
Flexible base partial are nice in situations that demand high esthetics. Because there is no rigid metal frame or metal clasps the flexible partial looks more natural and is more comfortable to wear. The trade off with the flexible denture is that it usually doesn’t last as long as a traditional partial denture.
